My Values

I am committed to building a better world by promoting equity, sustainability, and empathy through my strategic planning and fundraising services.  I employ a collaborative approach to fundraising, engaging with both leadership and funders to enhance organizational capacity and capabilities. I am committed to education, innovation, and social responsibility, and invite you to join me on this shared quest towards compassion, progress, and empowerment for all.

My Journey

My career has spanned consulting and nonprofit leadership, focusing on education, health, and financial well-being. Starting as an MBA student and later EMBA Program Manager at Northeastern University, I transitioned into roles that included developing leadership programs at the American Management Association and expanding education centers for a national test prep company. In 1998, I founded Berk Fundraising, offering strategic and fundraising advice, particularly in education policy and support, with notable contributions to various educational and philanthropic organizations.

Parallel to education, I pursued financial resilience, working as a Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch and holding development roles in financial education. My move to Charlottesville in 2008 marked a shift towards health philanthropy, significantly contributing to UVA Health Foundation’s campaigns.

In 2021, I relocated to Philadelphia, engaging in consulting for organizations like PSPCA and leveraging AI in health education through Understand the Science™. Academically, I hold a BA and an MBA, and I’m working towards a CAP® certification. Married with two daughters and two grandsons, I enjoy workouts, reading, and appreciating both urban and natural settings.

Versatility and Breadth of Experience Across Sectors

From fundraising for large-scale, health-system Capital Campaigns, to advancing Programs and Policies that boost the health, education, and financial security of individuals, families and small business owners across the country, and more, the results of my work demonstrate my ability to collaborate with a broad spectrum of nonprofits, businesses, donors, and foundations to achieve project-specific strategic and fundraising goals and the impact that advances the mission.
