UVA Medical Center (Hospital) and UVA School of Medicine

Working with individual donors, I raised major gifts for Alzehimer’s Research through UVA’s Medical Alumni legacy giving program.

I led the major gift campaigns for the Thaler Center for HIV and Retrovirus Research, stewarding relationships with the founding family and Center leadership. Funds raised were used to sustain clinical research initiatives spearheaded by leading experts in microbiology, infectious disease, and immunology from UVA School of Medicine and the International Health Department. My contributions to medical education campaigns included supporting faculty collaborative endeavors with clinical researchers worldwide, including a partnership with University of Venda in South Africa to boost clinical practices that improve population safety and health outcomes.   

Fundraising for Programs that Help Sick Children and Their Families

Led annual campaigns and special projects campaigns to secure funding for the UVA Children’s Hospital Education Program, ensuring children receive certified K-12 education in-hospital while undergoing treatment. Secured support from foundations and corporations to sustain these vital initiatives. 

Further, led successful foundation fundraising campaigns for the UVA Child Health Advocacy Program (CHAP), which supplies free legal assistance to families with children hospitalized at UVA Children’s Hospital. 

Fundraising for Health Education: Making Science Simpler

I spearheaded the campaign for Understand the Science™️, a new nonprofit dedicated to preventing opioid addiction. This included developing strategic community partnerships and conducting comprehensive fundraising research and planning. Led the execution of the initial fundraising plan, leveraging expertise in pharmaceutical education and marketing. Understand the Science’s mission centers on empowering individuals to make informed health choices through accessible medical education resources, including content developed by PhDs, technical writers, and AI-powered online videos with personalized Q&A chat. Initial efforts prioritize opioid addiction prevention education.
